Station 02 — four people

Four chairs, four pairs of hands, and a different answer in each one. Here is what each of them is actually best at, and what they will send you next door for.

Dai Pritchard

Owner · 31 years · scissor-over-comb, flat tops, anything on grey hair

Started at fifteen on Rhosddu Road, took this shop over in 2014 when it was still a tanning place. Cuts fast and talks faster. If you want a flat top that is actually flat, he is the only one here who learned it from somebody who had to do it every day.

“A fringe is the only thing on a head you cannot fake. Cut it last, cut it dry, cut it short of where you think.”

Emeka Nwosu

Fades, line-ups, textured crops · 9 years · here since 2021

Trained in Salford, moved over for the rugby and stayed for the rent. Does the sharpest line in the shop and is the only one who will cut a design, which is why he books ten days ahead and why you should not turn up on a Saturday expecting him.

“People ask for a zero fade and mean a one. I will do the zero, but you are back in nine days, not twenty.”

Marta Sowińska

All-scissor work, curly hair, the nine-minute crop · 8 years

Trained in Poznań on a three-year apprenticeship where clippers were not allowed until the second year. Takes anything curly that three other shops have already got wrong, and will tell you honestly if your hair will not hold the shape you have brought in on your phone.

“If it only looks right the day you leave, it was the wrong cut.”

Reuben Ffoulkes

Straight-razor shaves, beard work, late walk-ins · qualified 2024

Did his apprenticeship on this floor and took the razor chair the week he finished it. Slowest shave in the shop and the best one — forty-five minutes is forty-five minutes, and he will not start one at twenty past five.

“Two passes. Anyone telling you three is selling you a rash on Thursday.”

Ask for a name when you book

It costs the same and it is the difference between a cut you booked and a cut that happened to you.
